Boy Howdy!
CREEM’s mascot and an icon of the rock underground. Artwork by R. Crumb.
Who The Hell is Boy Howdy!?
Who isn’t he? For our April 1969 issue, CREEM commissioned legendary cartoonist R. Crumb to do his worst and spackle our front cover with one of his patented “slick jobs.” Thus was born Boy Howdy!, a mascot worthy of our depravity. Since then, our freaky little milk bottle has appeared in nearly every CREEM issue and graced the torsos of rock fans and musicians alike.
