Music Recap 4.21

Music Recap 4.21
By Greg Mania

Phew! I thought I wasn’t going to be able to write this week’s music recap. I’ve been stuck at the doctor for HOURS and I don’t want to divulge too much of the gory details but it involves The Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge and me trying to one-up everyone by using the bare floor brush attachment that came with my vacuum.

Silly me, trying to keep up with teens! But I’ve been keeping up with what’s going on in music, so let’s dive in, shall we? Rihanna goes down the political route in “American Oxygen”:

Ty Dolla $ign teamed up with Charli XCX and Tinashe for a track called “Drop That Kitty” and I can’t be positive, but I don’t think it has anything to do with felines?

Our girl Marina and The Diamonds teamed up with Clean Bandit on a hot new track they debuted at Coachella over the weekend! I LOVE the track and all, but can we take a brief moment to appreciate the violin player? If he’s on Tinder I’m gonna swipe right ALL NIGHT LONG. Here’s “Disconnect”:

Head over to NME to check out the rest of the piece.

OMG! Hot new Summer track alert! Samantha Urbani unearths an intense feeling of nostalgia with her 80’s reminiscent Belinda Carlisle meets Bananarama tune called “1 2 3 4.” Girl, kudos. This makes me want to get in the passenger seat of a champagne colored car and sip on a coke and bat my lashes at dudes loitering outside a 24-hour mart.

Get INTO IT via Pitchfork.

The editors over at Noisey put together a giant ass, carefully curated mixtape from jams all over the world. It’s so long that if you press play now it will last until next week’s music recap:

See you next week I LOVE YOU GUYS!
